Famous Vegetarians

There are a lot of people in the world who have chosen vegetarianism. Each of them has a reason behind their decision and those as diverse as the people themselves. There are also a lot of vegetarian celebrities that we hear about in the news who have always considered that veggies are the best way to go.

Famous vegetarians have about the same reasons as normal people to not eat meat, but the most common is saving animals. Among the most famous vegetarians is former Unites States President, Bill Clinton. The reason for this politician’s new diet is a need for healthier eats after two heart procedures he had done in the past. The near vegan diet doctors put him on will guarantee many years of heart disease free days.

The talk-show host and well-known comedian, Ellen DeGeneres never jokes when it comes to her vegetarianism. Both her and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, are vegans and are steering clear from meat because they love animals. Other celebrity vegetarians who share the same love for animals are Alicia Silverstone – actress in Clueless and comedian Russell Brand. Brand is also a PETA activist and has been a vegetarian since the age of 14. Another PETA activist who is also a vegetarian is sexy actress Pamela Anderson, who has taken the road to veggies a lot time ago.

A list of famous vegetarians could not be complete without the Oscar-winning Natalie Portman. We’ve known her since her Star Wars days and seen her grow into a Black Swan, but she has been a vegetarian since the age of 8 and turned vegan in 2009. Batman and Spiderman actors Christian Bale and Tobey Maguire also steer clear of meat, fish and poultry.

A love for animals, a desire for better health and personal beliefs have been the reason for other famous vegetarians who are no longer with us like Einstein, Tolstoi, Gandhi, Tesla and Kafka.
