Different Types Of Vegetarian

When hearing the word vegetarian most people would think about a diet that does not include meat. However as you will be able to find out from this article there are various types of vegetarian individuals and dishes and they often mean more than simply ‘no meat’.

To start with there are the vegans. Vegans are the types of vegetarian individuals who do not eat any kind of product that comes from an animal. Thus they are the stricter vegetarians as they do not eat meat, eggs, milk or other dairy products. Some of the vegans refuse to even consume processed foods containing any ingredient that is derived from an animal such as gelatin. Moreover, a part of the vegans would only eat unprocessed vegan foods and they are usually referred to as ‘raw vegans’.

Other types of vegetarian individuals are the fruitarians and lacto-ovo-vegetarians. The first group includes vegetarians who only eat fruits, mostly fresh. The second category implies individuals who would not eat meat of any kind or animal flesh in general but they would eat eggs and dairy products. There are also the lacto vegetarians who consume milk but still no type of meat or eggs. The ovo vegetarians consume eggs but do not consume milk and obviously meat is not part of their diet either. Also, there are the other vegetarian peoples and they are the pescetarians, flexitarians and pollo-vegetarians. The pescetarians are those vegetarians who do not any type of meat with the exception of fish. Flexitarians on the other hand are the people who are partially vegetarian as they are usually following a vegetarian diet but sometimes, considered rarely, eat meat. Lastly, the pollo-vegetarians are individuals who eat poultry including meats such as chicken, turkey or duck but they refuse to consume any other type of meat.
